ABOUT THE ARTIST
Amy Kruske received her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Michigan and secretly envied the art students in her dorm. She married her college sweetheart and worked for many years as a surgical nurse. They moved to Gladwin in 1990 where he embarked on his Dental Career and they began their family. Throughout her life Amy's mother, a celebrated tapestry weaver and author, inspired and introduced her to many art mediums. In May 2002, she attended a weaving convention with her mother and saw a man demonstrating glass bead making with a torch. Amy spent the entire day watching him and knew instantly this was an artform she wanted to learn. A few months after returning from the conference, she took her first bead making class in Mt. Pleasant and has been making beads ever since! She loves working with the flame and the endless opportunities for growth lampwork beadmaking offers. Her favorite day is one spent in her basement quietly creating with her glass and torch.
